Wow.  Days move fast.

36:  Got ready for my recital.  Gave a quick version to Jenine, but left a lot to be desired.

37: Lecture Recital!  Posting tomorrow.

38:  Played a morning session with my Dad.  In my old room!  Was very nice, even though I don’t think I played so well.  Star Eyes, The Thumb, and Joy Spring.  Dad sounded great, as usual.  I really miss playing with him.  So far, one of the biggest downfalls of moving so far away.  For all the musicians I know with musician children, here’s my advice:  Play as many minutes of life with your children as possible.  They won’t regret it!  Love you, Dad…and Mom, too!  Happy Mother’s Day!

Taught some students Monday and Tuesday, and started summer classes.  Our pianist was MIA for the Monday combo, so I played “In Walked Bud” with my group.  It’s a big group!  10 students for this session.  I might have to break things up.

Today, Jenine helped me put together my Lecture Recital.  I’m so lucky to have her around.  You know you’ve found a good one when  you’ve found a buddy and partner to help you with the big moments in your life.  Thanks, my love!

Getting ready for my Lecture Recital on Thursday.  Performed some bass techniques for Jenine.  Also, classes for the Summer Semester at Oakland begin in the morning.  Going to work on “In Walked Bud” with the group.  Nice tune, and fun to blow on.  I’m going to try to teach it to them by ear, see how it goes.
